When my father became the King of Norway, he told me three things: stand your ground, take initiative, and never show your cards. Until this very hour, I lived by those rules, never compromising, never showing my hand. Today, that changes.
I love Poland; the graceful fields, the wondrous nights, the incredible climate. Sadly, I am only able to visit occasionally. Luckily, there is a solution: military occupation. A short, one week campaign is all that is necessary to secure my spot in paradise!
I am so close to being able to invade; my army is gathered, the battle plans are written. But something is in the way: Denmark. What a tragedy; I refuse to invade Denmark! Luckily, there is a solution: permission to enter and transit through Danish territory!
So, I am asking, with sincerity and heart, that the kind Danes will allow my army passage. I do not come without incentives! By allowing us safe and obstruction free passage, relations between our kingdoms will continue to be perfect and problem free! Peace will be guaranteed!
Choices / Thought Process
I wrote this because of how clearly and obviously duplicitous Fortinbras’ plans are. I don’t think it’s a plot hole, just a bit silly. Wargaming it out a bit, this is approximately what the correspondence between Norway and Denmark would look like.
